Job Purpose

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in statistics for the Department of Mathematics.

Essential Functions

Teach up to 11 credit hours of undergraduate and graduate courses each semester. Engage in scholarly activity. Participate in course and curriculum development. Direct graduate students in the master’s program. Provide public or professional service.

Current course offerings in statistics at the undergraduate level include applied and mathematical statistics. Course offerings at the graduate level include experimental design, linear, nonlinear and generalized linear models, environmental and mathematical statistics.

Minimum Qualifications

An earned Ph.D. from an accredited institution in mathematics, or in statistics with a strong mathematical background. Evidence of high quality teaching, as seen in the letters of recommendation. Evidence of quality research commensurate with years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

The preferred areas of research are multivariate analysis, biostatistics, environmental statistics, and data mining. Preference will be given to candidates who can complement the research activities of current faculty or who meet the teaching needs of the department.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Commensurate with education and experience. Full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position to begin August 1, 2018.

Benefits include the accumulation of one sick leave day per month and thirteen University holidays. Other benefits include medical and life insurance (shared cost with the university), retirement, optional 401k, and educational benefits. Deferred income and benefits over 12 months.
