Job Purpose

Teach courses, conduct research, and perform service for the Department of English.

Essential Functions

Responsibilities include a 4/4 teaching load (includes undergraduate and graduate professional and technical communication courses, as well as general education courses), with reductions for research possible. Peer-reviewed publications and department service required for tenure and promotion.

Minimum Qualifications

Earned Ph.D. from an accredited institution by the start of appointment in Professional Communication, Technical Communication, Rhetoric and Composition, English or a closely related field with a specialization or dissertation in Professional/Technical Communication. College-level teaching experience. Demonstrated active research agenda.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred areas of expertise include grants and proposal writing, the rhetoric of science, or user-centered design. Previous industry experience in desired sub-field and knowledge of industry-specific software.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Commensurate with education and experience. Full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position to begin August 1, 2018.
Benefits Information

Benefits include the accumulation of one sick leave day per month and thirteen University holidays. Other benefits include medical and life insurance (shared cost with the university), retirement, optional 401k, and educational benefits. Deferred income and benefits over 12 months.
