Job Purpose

Teach introductory and upper-division courses in criminology and criminal justice in the Department of Sociology & Political Science.

Essential Functions

Teaches introductory and upper-division courses in criminology and criminal justice, compatible with departmental needs. Conducts research and scholarship, and provides service to the department and university. Demonstrates continued improvement of teaching using research-based practices. Works collaboratively with the department, college, and university.

Minimum Qualifications

Earned Ph.D. from an accredited institution in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or Sociology by the start date (August 1, 2018). Qualified to teach introductory and upper-division courses in criminology and criminal justice. Supporter of active techniques in the classroom (collaborative learning, etc.). Demonstrated active research agenda. Evidence of potential for excellence in teaching and scholarly activities.

Preferred Qualifications

Teaching experience. Expertise in Criminology and Criminal Justice, but all specialties will be considered. Ability to teach online courses to meet departmental needs.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Commensurate with education and experience. Full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position to begin August 1, 2018.
Benefits Information

Benefits include the accumulation of one sick leave day per month and thirteen University holidays. Other benefits include medical and life insurance (shared cost with the university), retirement, optional 401k, and educational benefits. Deferred income and benefits over 12 months.
