Job Purpose

The Head Football Coach directs all activities of the football program within NCAA, OVC, and University policies and procedures. Tennessee Tech University is a Division I member of the Ohio Valley Conference.

Essential Functions

Responsible for all aspects of the football program including practices and conditioning, recruiting, administration and budget management, player and public relations, fundraising, and supporting the academic development and graduation of student-athletes. Supervises assistant/volunteer coaches, student assistants, and managers. Assists with scheduling and makes arrangements necessary to fulfill requirements of football games. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Four years of collegiate or professional football coaching experience OR eight years total of coaching experience at a highly competitive level. Education and experience necessary to perform all the functions of a Division I Head Football Coach. Commitment to adhere to NCAA and OVC rules and regulations as well as University policies and procedures.

Beyond meeting minimum requirements, candidates will be evaluated in terms of how their experience and education have prepared them for Division I head coaching including recruiting, practice and conditioning, administration and budget management, player and public relations, fundraising, and supporting the academic development and graduation of student-athletes. Coaching philosophy must be complementary to that of the Department of Athletics.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Commensurate with education and experience.
Benefits Information

Administrative: Benefits include the accumulation of two vacation days per month and one sick leave day per month, and thirteen (13) University holidays. Other benefits include medical and life insurance (shared cost with the university), retirement, optional 401k, and educational benefits.
