Job Purpose

Recruit for and teach the clarinet studio. Teach undergraduate music courses as needed. Perform with the Cumberland Wind Quintet and Bryan Symphony Orchestra.

Essential Functions

Teach undergraduate students applied clarinet and studio class; actively recruit for the department; teach in related areas including chamber music, literature, and pedagogy; perform with the Cumberland Wind Quintet and Bryan Symphony Orchestra; serve on departmental committees as assigned. Additional teaching assignments may include teaching in the areas of music theory, music history, music appreciation, and woodwind methods, or other duties commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and departmental needs.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree from an accredited institution by start date of appointment, with significant teaching experience. High level of performance ability. Professional experience in teaching and performing. Ability to teach at and develop a college-level music program.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctoral degree from an accredited institution.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Commensurate with education and experience. Full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position to begin August 1, 2018.
Benefits Information

Benefits include the accumulation of one sick leave day per month and thirteen University holidays. Other benefits include medical and life insurance (shared cost with the university), retirement, optional 401k, and educational benefits. Deferred income and benefits over 12 months.
