Job Purpose

Provide a centralized location for the management of, application for, and awarding of university scholarships. Also, to provide analysis, research, recommendations, coordination, and implementation of improving and automating processes that will make EMSS more effective and efficient in serving students and other stakeholders.

Essential Functions

Provide accurate and timely information to students, prospective students, and families regarding scholarships at TTU. Train and assist departments in making scholarship awards using ScholarWeb. Consult with University Advancement on criteria for new scholarships being established and current scholarships too restrictive to be awarded. Track GPAs, service hours, and other renewal requirements for the 1,800 students receiving a renewable admissions scholarships; inform students who are losing the scholarship or on probation. Create publications and other communications materials to advertise the scholarship application process and deadline; maintain scholarships website. Give on and off campus presentations to parents and students on applying for scholarships. Ensure that all scholarships are awarded each year to students who meet the criteria, in the correct amount, in a timely fashion; assist University Advancement in notifying donors of the recipient(s) of their scholarship. Assist and advise students and parents on scholarship application procedures and requirements. Reconcile 100 accounts for the scholarships awarded directly by the Scholarship Office and provide assistance to departments with their reconciling of the remaining 500 university scholarships. Manage scholarship application process, online scholarship application, student scholarship files, and distribution of applicant lists to academic departments. Communicate application procedures to TN high schools; prepare lists of recipients for awards presentations. Maintain records of all university scholarships, criteria, applicants, recipients, and accounts. Offer 1,000 admissions scholarships and 100 donor-funded scholarships annually and manage process for tracking acceptances/declines. Assist departments with tracking their acceptances/declines.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a related area. Four years of job related experience. Knowledge of software such as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access). Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Five years of experience in Admissions, Financial Aid, Finance, or University Advancement. Knowledge of Admissions requirements and procedures, University Advancement policies for establishing and funding scholarship endowments, and a basic knowledge of financial aid such as loans, grants, and the Tennessee Education Lottery Scholarship program. Experience with Banner, ScholarWeb, and Argos.

Work Hours

Typical hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Additional hours if/when needed.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Commensurate with education and experience; Administrative Pay Grade AD 43.
Benefits Information

Benefits include the accumulation of two vacation days per month and one sick leave day per month, and thirteen University holidays. Other benefits include medical and life insurance (shared cost with the university), retirement, optional 401k, and educational benefits.
