Job Purpose

Teach studio flute and flute choir. Administer all aspects of the TTU flute program.

Essential Functions

Responsible for recruiting (especially flute majors) and teaching the flute studio, rehearsing and performing as principal flute with the Bryan Symphony Orchestra and as flutist with the resident faculty ensemble Cumberland Quintet. Build and maintain professional relationships with public school music teachers. Active participant in the School of Music. Other responsibilities, such as woodwind methods, core music theory courses, music appreciation, or other instructional duties may be assigned according to candidate’s qualifications and departmental needs. Represent and serve as an advocate for the School of Music, the University, and to the greater public.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree from an accredited institution in a related field. Significant professional experience in teaching and performing as a flutist.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate or ABD in a related field

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Commensurate with education and experience. Full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position to begin August 1, 2018. Anticipated Vacancy.
Benefits Information

Benefits include the accumulation of one sick leave day per month and thirteen University holidays. Other benefits include medical and life insurance (shared cost with the university), retirement, optional 401k, and educational benefits. Deferred income and benefits over 12 months.
