Job Purpose

Secures major gifts for the benefit of the University by implementing prospect specific strategies to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, steward and recognize major gift prospects through individual visits, personal communication and event participation. Directly supports the fundraising initiatives for the University through assignment to particular regions of the United States. Maintains a liaison relationship with one or more major divisions of the University.

Essential Functions

Serve as a regional fundraiser soliciting gifts at the $25,000 level or more. Visit each state in assigned region at least once per calendar year with the intention of qualifying, cultivating, and soliciting donors. Manage a portfolio of donors and prospective donors. Serve as a liaison to specific academic units and/or departments for major gifts. Secure significant philanthropic support for the University through personalized, written proposals. Work proactively with the University’s chief stewardship officer to ensure that gift impacts are demonstrated to donors. Demonstrate commitment to higher education and the mission of the University.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Five years of general fundraising or sales experience. Strong relationship-building skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Record of success in major gift/sales solicitation/closure. Evidence of conducting follow-up in a timely manner. Adaptability to changing circumstances. Ability to travel extensively.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree from an accredited institution. Higher education experience. Campaign experience.

Work Hours

Typical hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Additional hours if/when needed. Extensive overnight and weekend travel required.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Commensurate with education and experience; Administrative Pay Grade AD47.

The University offers a competitive benefits package. Benefits include the accumulation of two vacation days per month and one sick leave day per month, and thirteen University holidays.
